Three Techniques for Learning Spanish

No matter what level we are when learning Spanish, there are always ways that can be used that will make your learning experience very much easier. These are three tested techniques that will actually work for any language similar to English, not just Spanish.

First of all, find the Rocket Spanish in the English. If you can relate the words, then it's easier to remember them and use them regularly. It's easy if you can list down all the Spanish words you can remember that are regularly used in the English language. It's usually food or a common item. Give yourself a challenge here: how many words can you remember in a short amount of time?

And don't be afraid as to what words you can use; everything is OK here. From food (chili con carne, frittata, quezo, helado) to party stuff (pinata, from pina or pineapple), nothing is sacred.

Secondly, say it again. And again. And again. We need repetition in order for us to remember something well. If the lessons you chose don't have repetition included, do it yourself. Then you can build on what you remember, using the words to build simple sentences that you can use in daily conversation.

If you have a new lesson for the day, review it on that same day. Reading it twice or thrice helps you nail it down. It's even better if you can use the word in conversation or even just say it aloud. The more you say a word, the more it becomes yours.

Third, attach the Spanish terms to a daily action. You don't need to do the action, but you can assign a mental picture to the Spanish term. For example, if you are trying to remember the term “besos” or kisses, then you can picture a frog with big green lips kissing a semi-disgusted princess. The funnier the pictures you assign to the word, the easier it is to remember it.
